Informing and educating
Over the past year we organised a living with neurodiversity lived experience webinar, ran a campaign on our intranet for South Asian Heritage Month celebrating our colleagues of South Asian heritage, and hosted EDI Cafes in our offices. We celebrated and shared information about events relating to beliefs, health, ethnicity, gender, disability and neurodiversity, LGBT+, family and wellbeing.

Mental health awareness
From tea and talk to wellbeing walks, colleagues from across Blake Morgan came together for World Mental Health Day 2023. Our team of Mental Health First Aiders hosted drop in sessions throughout the day. The aim was to bring people together and encourage colleagues to talk about their mental health and wellbeing.

Social mobility
Blake Morgan is committed to increasing access to the legal profession. In addition to our Growing Ambitions scheme and PRIME, we are also a partner of GROW Mentoring, an organisation that supports social mobility, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. This year we hosted an insight day for 40 plus candidates from GROW hosted by our social mobility champion, giving them an insight into working in a law firm alongside receiving hints, tips and expert guidance.

LGBT+
We celebrate PRIDE every year across our offices. This year to mark LGBT+ History Month we heard from our LGBT+ Champion and our growing LGBT+ & Allies group to educate, inform and inspire.

Celebrating diversity

Our EDI champions and EDI committee meet four times a year to agree and schedule activity within our workstreams.

We run campaigns and events throughout the year to celebrate diversity and to inform and educate our colleagues on topics relating to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We have featured some examples of this activity below:

Through MyTime, colleagues were able to participate in activities which support their personal wellbeing or to organise wellbeing activities for others.

MyTime faith
MyTime allowed colleagues to celebrate a religious or belief-based festival or event that is important to them.

Mental health first aiders
Blake Morgan has a team of 40 mental health first aiders, providing a ratio of mental health first aiders to staff of 1:15.

Over the last year we have had 15 colleagues undertake the mental health first aider course and 13 undertake the refresher course which they are required to do every three years.

Supporting colleagues through the menopause
Our trained Menopause Mentors are on hand to provide advice, support or a confidential conversation to help support colleagues going through the menopause.

Working to improve equality, diversity, and inclusion

We believe that a diverse organisation is a stronger organisation. Blake Morgan is extremely proud to have achieved its highest ever placing in its seventh successive year in the Inclusive Top 50.
